Everything is always working out for you…
“Fear and faith are two sides of the same coin.”
When I first read this quote it hit me like a ton of bricks.
On the surface I thought that fear and faith have nothing in common - but really they are similar - two sides of the same coin.
Faith is the belief that something good will happen - in the future.
Fear is the worry that something bad will happen - in the future.
They are simply opposite ways of seeing the world and imagining future scenarios.
As you navigate your career and create a career that you love, you can choose to worry that:
Other people will judge you
You will fail and have to start over
It is too late to make a change - no one will take a chance on you
You will never make as much money doing what you love as you do now
OR
You can choose to believe that:
Your path will inspire others
Whatever challenges come your way, you will figure out until you are successful
Your diverse experiences will help you add more value
Doing what you love will lead to more money
The good news is - this isn't a coin you have to flip every day and see where things land.
YOU get to choose what way you want to see the world.
Now, I get it - for years I believed that if I worried about something it was less likely to happen - like actually. Breaking the worry habit is hard.
So many clients and prospective clients start off holding themselves back from even admitting to themselves what they want as the fear and worry holds them back. But that simply keeps you stuck in a job you hate, not chasing a dream that you know is meant for you or keeping yourself small and robbing the world of your genius.
I have since cultivated the belief that everything is always working out for me. It may not work out the way I imagined, but everything is working out in my favour. This belief has made me WAY less stressed out, and given me the courage to take risks that have led to me creating the business and career of my dreams.
How can you let go of fear and choose faith? Two tips:
Make a list of 3 wins at the end of very day - this could be something small like actually doing the workout you planned or crushing a big presentation. This trains your brain to look for the good in your day - and you will realize there is way more than you think!
When you catch yourself worrying actively repeat to yourself (out loud or in your head) - everything is always working out for me - you may need to repeat it a lot but over time you will notice the little moments when things are working out - you get a parking spot right in front of the restaurant, the rain stops just as you are leaving the office, you get an upgrade at a hotel.
Cultivating and choosing to believe that it is all working out WILL help you see the possibilities of your career instead of seeing all the reasons you CAN'T create a career you love.
